Stephen (Steve) DuPlessis Short Biography

This is a quick biography of myself, Stephen (Steve) DuPlessis.  I was born in Chicago and raised in Upstate NY, Rochester NY to be more specific. I learned the value of a dollar and work ethic at an early age with a paper route when I was 12 delivering the Democrat and Chronicle to my local neighborhood. I was attracted to technology out of the womb learning to program on one of the first personal computers in junior high. In high school, I graduated with Honors and instead of taking study halls in my senior year I structured my schedule to attend BOCES NY vocational as they had a computer programming curriculum in 1986. I joined the United States Marine Corps in October 1987 at the age of 20 and was honorably discharged in 1992. I worked in computer operations in the Marine Corps starting off on mainframes from IBM and UNISYS and later helped implement the first WAN (wide area network) at MCAS Yuma, AZ using Banyan Vines and Novell Network. This was prior to Microsoft launching Microsoft NT and taking over the market for network operating systems. I was recruited from the outside to be a Network Administrator in Denver CO. for Resolution Trust Corporation who was responsible for cleaning up the Savings and Loan debacle. In 1996, I was recruited to join Xerox Corporation during their transition from analog to digital copiers. I finished my Bachelor’s in Information and Decision Sciences in 2004 from the College of Business at the University of Texas at El Paso. Go Miners! I have worked in the office equipment industry for the last 17 years. In 2002, there was a reduction in force at Xerox, which prompted me to open a Xerox Agency in El Paso, Office Experts, Inc. which I owned and operated with up to 8 direct reports. I was a CEO, COO, CMO and CFO for my business which enjoyed 6 successful years. In 2008-9, just prior to the recession, I rejoined Xerox Corporation. I am finished my MBA in 2014 at the University of Texas at El Paso. You can learn more about my professional career and background on Steve DuPlessis LinkedIn.

I have a daughter Haley, who received the best traits from each of her parents. She is tall with blue eyes like her dad and beautiful like her mom. Her intelligence came from both parents. 😉 Haley’s talent for gaming came from dad and her talent for singing came from mom’s side of the family. I can only imagine where she will be in 10 years, but the sky is the limit.

My interests include family, technology, business, sports, and community engagement. I am starting this personal blog so that I can provide insight into my interests.
